DESCRIPTION

In These Starless Skies, a dysfunctional team of planetary scientists must confront their personal demons and unravel the enigma of a mysterious tidally-locked planet, all before their inner chaos takes over in this sci-fi point and click adventure.

Currently in development in Perth, Western Australia, with the assistance of Screen Australia and Screenwest.

FEATURES

• WORLDS UNKNOWN - Explore the planet's vastly different landscapes and all the organisms that come with them - one side a blazing hot desert bathed in perpetual sunlight, the other an icy landscape in eternal darkness, and in between, the twilight zone, forever dusk.
• ART STYLE - Visually imagined in a cinematic 2.5D pixel art style blending pixel art with moody 3D environments.
• EPISODIC NARRATIVE - The game's existential narrative is revealed episodically from the perspective of each crew member, including playable flashbacks set on a futuristic Earth that give perspective into how they came to be the way they are.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PROJECT LEAD

From a young age I have always loved playing games, appreciating their unique ability to tell stories in a way that no other medium could. Now after 15 years of professionally developing with game engines and learning the craft, I can confidently combine my love of games, with my love of writing stories, making digital art, and utilising mood to evoke emotion.

The idea for These Starless Skies started taking shape in 2022 whilst on maternity leave, and suddenly all the ideas started falling into place - an interstellar sci-fi adventure, focussing on character-driven narratives. With the support of Screenwest, this idea came to life in a prototype that we are now excited to see through to public release.

These Starless Skies is dedicated to those players who seek more than a temporary period of entertainment; those who seek a moving and memorable story, heartfelt and down-to-earth characters, and the ability to have moments of experiencing another beautiful, moody and atmospheric world without too much pressured gameplay. Players who want to remember their experience for years to come.

With the help of a very passionate and experienced team, who are just as big fans of space and sci-fi as I am, I look forward to taking others on this interstellar journey
